    It’s not robbery, Dieula, it’s insurance. Since the port troubles in October, the insurance on containers going to Varreux terminal doubled.
    **My advice:** If your family can pick it up in St. Marc or Cap-Haitien, it’s cheaper and faster. If it *must* go to Port-au-Prince, $180 is actually a standard price right now. Just make sure they offer door-to-door delivery so your family doesn’t have to go to the port.

    Do not send to Port-au-Prince right now, chérie. It’s a lottery. My cousin’s container has been stuck in customs since October because the douane officers can’t get to work safely.

    Better option: Send it to Cap-Haitien or St. Marc if you can. It costs $400 more for the transport, but at least you will actually get the car. My uncle picked up his truck in Cap last week, no problem.
