I am preparing a box for my family in Port-au-Prince. The last company I used raised their prices to $200 and took 3 months to deliver.

Who are you using that is reliable and fast? Please share reviews.

I just called my usual guy in Brooklyn and he quoted me $180 to ship a barrel to PaP! Last Christmas it was $150. Is everyone raising prices or is he trying to rob me?

It’s not robbery, Dieula, it’s insurance. Since the port troubles in October, the insurance on containers going to Varreux terminal doubled.
**My advice:** If your family can pick it up in St. Marc or Cap-Haitien, it’s cheaper and faster. If it *must* go to Port-au-Prince, $180 is actually a standard price right now. Just make sure they offer door-to-door delivery so your family doesn’t have to go to the port.
