About Forum Diaspora
Why we created this place
Forum Diaspora started with something we kept noticing.
Haitians were having meaningful conversations everywhere, but almost none had a lasting home.
Someone would ask for help understanding a Kreyòl message from family. Someone else was looking for a Haitian business in a new city. People shared events, family stories, job advice, history, and memories of things that immediately felt like home.
People showed up with answers. Then the post moved down the feed, the group chat continued, and the information became difficult to find again.
That bothered us.
The Haitian community is not short on stories, knowledge, humor, businesses, events, or people willing to help. The problem is that everything is scattered.
Forum Diaspora was our answer
We wanted one place where these exchanges could continue and lead somewhere useful.
In the forums, a question can connect you with someone who has lived through the same experience. The directory helps people find and support Haitian businesses and organizations. Event listings help community members discover what is happening around them.
A discussion about language, history, identity, or life abroad might help someone feel less disconnected from where they come from.
Forum Diaspora is not meant to replace the communities Haitians have already built. It gives their knowledge, stories, and connections a home where they can be found and shared.
There is no single way to be Haitian
Some of us were born in Haiti. Some grew up somewhere else.
Some speak Kreyòl every day. Others understand only parts of it or are learning as adults.
Some know their family history well. Others are still trying to recover pieces of it.
Forum Diaspora is for all of us. It is also open to friends of Haiti who come with respect and a genuine interest in the community.
You do not need to be an expert or have the perfect words. Ask a question, share what you know, or join a discussion.
Who is behind Forum Diaspora
Forum Diaspora is a project of EVOH, Evolution d’Haïti, a nonprofit association founded in 2015.
EVOH supports Haiti’s development through education, professional training, and cultural promotion. Forum Diaspora continues that work by helping Haitians and friends of Haiti exchange knowledge, support community initiatives, and build relationships across borders.
This place grows when people participate
Forum Diaspora grows through what people bring to it.
If you know an answer, share it. If a Haitian business deserves more attention, add it. If something is happening in your community, post the event. If you have a story, concern, or idea, start the discussion.
That is why we created Forum Diaspora: to make it easier for our community to find one another and keep the conversation going.
