I’m not in DC (Indy here) but in my world the “admin apprenticeships” usually hide under titles like business operations, customer service, or even IT service desk if you’re ok leaning a little tech. Definitely check DC DOES and the workforce board listings, and also big employers like hospitals/universities bc they run earn-while-you-learn pipelines but don’t market it as apprenticeship. Another angle is staffing agencies that partner with workforce programs, they’ll call it “office trainee” or “career pathway” and it ends up paid. If you want, post what kinda admin work you’re aiming for (front desk, HR, exec assistant) and I can suggest search terms to use.

I’m in Indy, but I come up to Chicago often. Let’s connect on LinkedIn. Always happy to help a junior engineer navigate the corporate landscape.
