I send money to family in Haiti regularly, and the fees plus exchange rate can quietly take a big bite out of each transfer. What services have people found reliable for low-cost transfers, especially when the recipient needs cash pickup or mobile money? I also want to set aside a small amount each month instead of sending everything immediately. How do you compare rates, delivery times, and security before choosing a service?

Mwen ta konseye nou verifye sèvis la sou sit ofisyèl li epi gade konbyen moun nan resevwa an goud, pa sèlman frè yo montre a. Li bon tou pou itilize yon kont oswa bous mobil ki sou non moun k ap resevwa lajan an, epi kenbe nimewo konfimasyon an. Si se yon fanmi ou fè konfyans, nou ka dakò davans sou yon dat ak yon kantite fiks chak mwa pou ede ak bidjè. Pa janm voye kòd oswa modpas bay yon moun ki rele w san avètisman.

One practical step is to write down the total cost for each provider: transfer fee, exchange-rate difference, and any withdrawal charge. For a monthly transfer, even a small rate difference can add up, so I would compare the same amount across two or three regulated services on the same day. If the goal includes saving, separating the remittance budget from an emergency fund may make it easier to avoid last-minute borrowing. I would also keep receipts and confirm with the recipient before sending a second transfer if the first one is delayed.
